Article summary

Is Fansly safe and legit for fans and creators?

  • Fansly is a legitimate platform run by Select Media LLC, an active Maryland company. It verifies every creator's identity and age.
  • For fans, Fansly's help centre doesn't say whether creators can see your email or real name. Creators do see your username, tier and renewal status, and a Top Supporters view shows spending.
  • For creators, the key settings are 2FA, Blocked Locations for geoblocking and the optional watermark. Fansly doesn't claim to prevent screenshots.
  • Reviews are mixed: 2.2 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 195 reviews as of 5 October 2026. Recurring complaints cover verification, refunds, terminations and support.

Key definitions

Two-factor authentication (2FA)
A second login step on top of your password. On Fansly it uses a code from an authenticator app or a code sent by email, and it also applies to sensitive account actions.
Blocked Locations
Fansly's geoblocking setting under Privacy & Safety. People in the countries, states, cities or regions you block can't find you in search or on the For You Page, and can't view your profile.
DMCA takedown
A copyright removal request sent to a site that hosts someone's content without permission. Fansly helps creators with DMCA takedowns and offers a complimentary takedown service for fake profiles.
Chargeback
A card payment reversed by the fan's bank. Fansly says it shields creators from chargebacks in most cases, but it may deduct them when a creator's rate is unusually high or the creator is at fault.

Yes, Fansly is a legitimate platform. It's run by Select Media LLC, an active Maryland company, it verifies every creator's identity and age, and it offers real security tools. How safe you are in practice depends on whether you switch those tools on.

The honest caveat is that user reviews are mixed. Below, I split the answer for fans and creators, with most of the detail for creators, since your account is your income. Everything here comes from Fansly's own help centre as of October 2026, unless I say otherwise.

Is Fansly legit? The short verdict

Fansly is a real, registered business that pays creators through named payment providers. Here's the verdict at a glance:

Question Short answer
Who runs it? Select Media LLC, an active Maryland company
Does it pay creators? Fansly says creators receive 80% of subscription, media, message and tip revenue
How do payouts arrive? Paxum, Cosmopayment, bank wire, local bank deposit or crypto
Are creators verified? Yes: an Ondato ID and age check plus Fansly's own review
Is 2FA available? Yes, by authenticator app or emailed code
What do users say? Mixed: 2.2 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 195 reviews, as of 5 October 2026

Select Media LLC is also the name on creator payouts. Fansly's getting-started guide says they show on bank statements as "SELECT MEDIA LLC", though this can vary by region and payout method. If you want the full fee picture, our guide to Fansly's fees and payout percentage works through it.

My verdict: Fansly is legit and gives you tools to reduce your risk. Treat it like any business platform, though. Set up security on day one, read the refund rules before you need them, and keep your own records.

Is Fansly safe for fans?

For fans, the main concerns are privacy and money, and Fansly addresses both in writing. Here's what it says, and where it stays silent.

Can Fansly creators see your email or real name?

Fansly's help centre doesn't say either way. What it does describe is the creator's view: your username on their Subscribers and Followers lists, with your tier and renewal status if you subscribe. A Top Supporters view also shows how much a creator's biggest fans have spent.

That silence isn't the same as Fansly saying creators can't see your email. If it matters to you, ask Fansly support directly. In the meantime, pick a username that doesn't reveal your real name. Also assume the creator can see your spending history with them.

Does Fansly store your card details?

Fansly says it doesn't. Fans pay from a preloaded wallet or a saved payment method. According to Fansly's account security page, billing and payment information is held by third-party payment processors, not Fansly. Fansly doesn't name those processors.

The same page says personal data is encrypted and never shared. These are Fansly's statements about its own systems, so read them as that.

What appears on a fan's card statement is a common question. Fansly's help centre names "SELECT MEDIA LLC" for creator payouts, but we couldn't confirm what fans see on their statements.

What happens to your age verification data?

As of October 2026, fans in 12 US states and in the UK, Australia, Brazil and Germany verify their age through Ondato. Fansly says Ondato doesn't store selfies or IDs, and Fansly itself receives only an age confirmation. Our guide to how Fansly works lists the states.

Can you get a refund on Fansly?

Usually not. Most purchases are final and non-refundable. Fansly does issue refunds in a few cases: custom content not delivered within two weeks (or the agreed time), a creator inactive for 6+ months, or an unclear offer.

Can you block or mute someone?

Yes, and neither action notifies the other person. Blocking stops an account interacting with you or viewing your profile, and it also blocks their secondary accounts. Muting is lighter: it hides their posts, mass messages and live notifications.

Is Fansly safe for creators?

Fansly gives creators two-factor login, location blocking and help with takedowns. What it doesn't claim is a way to stop fans capturing what they see. Set up the tools below before your first post.

How does 2FA work on Fansly?

You turn it on under Settings > Account > "Setup 2 Factor Authentication". Fansly's 2FA guide offers two methods: an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator or Authy, or codes sent by email. Codes are needed at login and for sensitive account actions. The guide doesn't mention text-message codes.

Two practical points. First, Fansly warns never to share the setup QR code. As with any authenticator app, anyone who scans it can generate your codes. Second, and this is general advice rather than Fansly's: an emailed code is only as safe as the inbox it lands in, so put 2FA on that email account too.

If you lose your authenticator, Fansly support verifies your identity and removes 2FA so you can set it up again. In agencies I've worked with, a common weak spot was the 2FA code itself, passed around a group chat. That's an access problem, and the agency section below covers it.

What should you do if your Fansly account is hacked?

Act fast and in this order, following Fansly's hacked-account guidance:

  1. Change your Fansly password.
  2. Secure the email address linked to your account.
  3. Turn on 2FA for both Fansly and that email account.
  4. Contact Fansly support.

Can you block countries on Fansly?

Yes. Go to Settings > Privacy & Safety > Blocked Locations. You can block countries, states, cities or regions. People in a blocked location can't find you in search or on the For You Page, and they can't view your profile.

Fansly's page doesn't explain how it determines a visitor's location. So treat geoblocking as a useful filter, not a promise of privacy.

The same settings page has other privacy controls worth a look:

  • Timeline permissions
  • Hiding tip amounts
  • Blurring DM media by default
  • A sensitive-content filter
  • Disabling the follow button

Your own details stay on Fansly's side. Fansly says creators' personal and billing details are encrypted and never shared with fans, and fans see only your profile.

Can people screenshot or steal your Fansly content?

Fansly makes copying harder, but it doesn't claim to stop screenshots. Fansly's content safety page lists the protections it does offer:

  • Fans can't save media directly from creator pages.
  • Fansly blocks crawlers.
  • Fansly helps with DMCA takedowns.
  • You can add an optional watermark under Creator Dashboard > Uploads.

Nothing on the page claims to prevent screenshots or screen recordings. Assume anything a fan can see can be captured, and switch the watermark on so stolen copies carry your mark. If you find your content elsewhere, report it through the Help button or by email.

What if someone impersonates you or shares intimate images?

Fansly has a reporting route for both. For fake profiles and phishing, it offers a complimentary DMCA takedown service. It also warns that other domains imitating Fansly are fraudulent, so never enter your login anywhere else.

For non-consensual intimate imagery, you can report it without logging in, using Fansly's complaints page and providing ID. Fansly says it acts on complete reports within 48 hours. The word "complete" matters, so include everything Fansly asks for.

Who pays for chargebacks and refunds?

Fansly covers most chargebacks, but refunds can come out of your earnings. Its creator security FAQ says "Fansly shields creators from chargebacks in most cases." Fansly may deduct chargebacks when your rate is unusually high or you're at fault.

Blocking a fan doesn't refund them, and they keep access to what they bought. If a refund is approved for a subscriber you've blocked, it comes out of your earnings.

Fansly can also refund fans directly and adjust your earnings. The triggers are custom content not delivered within two weeks (or the agreed time), 6+ months of inactivity, and unclear offers. Clear offers and on-time delivery protect your balance.

What do Fansly reviews say?

Reviews are mixed, and it's fair to say so. As of 5 October 2026, Fansly's Trustpilot page shows 2.2 out of 5 from 195 reviews. Recurring complaints include verification loops, refused refunds, account terminations with balances held, and the quality of support.

Read these as signals of where things go wrong, not as verified facts. Reviews are self-selected: people choose whether to post them. Still, each theme points to something you can prepare for:

Complaint theme What you can do
Verification loops Prepare your ID front and back, a photo holding your ID and a handwritten sign, and a short video holding both. The sign shows your legal name, the date and "For Fansly".
Refused refunds Know that most purchases are final before you buy or sell.
Balances held after termination Withdraw regularly once you pass your method's payout minimum.
Support quality Keep your own records of offers, deliveries and transactions.

Running more than one creator? Handle access properly

For agencies and teams, a common safety risk is the shared password. If a chatter has the login, they also have everything the owner can reach, including payouts.

Management Sessions are Fansly's built-in fix. They give team members or an agency access without the creator sharing their login. Permissions are set per link, and payouts and account closure always stay restricted.

Shared password Management Session
Login shared with the team Yes No
Permissions per team member No Set per link
Payouts and account closure Exposed Always restricted

Every agency I've helped sorted out access before anything else. Our guide to delegating chatter access without password sharing goes deeper.

If you also manage accounts through software, check how it handles logins. With our Fansly API, an independent tool, each creator account is connected like this:

  1. Start Authentication takes the account's username or email and password, entered once when the account is connected. Our docs state that credentials are stored securely and encrypted at rest.
  2. Poll Authentication Status shows whether Fansly wants a code, and whether it comes from email or an authenticator app.
  3. Submit 2FA sends the code whenever Fansly asks for one, so 2FA stays on.
  4. Re-authenticate Account reconnects later using the stored credentials, instead of adding the account again.

After that, your team works through the API without handling the creator's login. Across the company, we've had zero account bans in 5 years of operation. That's a track record, not a promise about any one account. Our ban prevention playbook covers the habits that keep accounts in good standing.

A quick Fansly safety checklist for creators

Work through this before your first post:

  1. Turn on 2FA with an authenticator app, and protect your email with 2FA too.
  2. Set Blocked Locations for anywhere you don't want to be found.
  3. Switch on the watermark under Creator Dashboard > Uploads.
  4. Review your privacy settings, including tip visibility and DM media blur.
  5. Save Fansly's reporting routes for content theft, impersonation and non-consensual images.
  6. Use Management Sessions instead of sharing your password with anyone.
  7. Keep clear records of custom offers and delivery dates.

Fansly is legit, with real safety tools, even if its reviews are mixed. Those tools only work once you switch them on, so do it before you need them.

FAQ

Is Fansly a legit company?

Yes. Fansly is operated by Select Media LLC, which Maryland business records list as an active Baltimore company. Creator payouts show that company name on bank statements. Fansly says creators receive 80% of subscription, media, message and tip revenue, paid through Paxum, Cosmopayment, bank wire, local bank deposit or crypto.

Does Fansly have two-factor authentication?

Yes. You can use an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator or Authy, or codes sent by email. Fansly's 2FA guide doesn't mention text-message codes. Lost your authenticator? Contact Fansly support, which checks your identity and resets 2FA so you can enrol again.

Can I hide my Fansly profile from people in my country?

Yes. Fansly's Blocked Locations setting, under Privacy & Safety, lets you block countries, states, cities or regions. Anyone in a blocked area is hidden from search and the For You Page and can't open your profile.

What should I do if my Fansly content is leaked?

Report it to Fansly through the Help button or by email, since Fansly helps creators with DMCA takedowns. Fake profiles get a complimentary takedown service. Non-consensual intimate images can be reported without logging in, and Fansly says it acts on complete reports within 48 hours.

Will someone know if I block or mute them on Fansly?

No. Fansly says neither blocking nor muting sends a notification. A blocked account, including any secondary accounts the person runs, can't contact you or see your profile. Muting just hides their posts, mass messages and live notifications from you.
