Fansly subscription tiers are paid access levels you create under Creator Dashboard > Plans/Promos. Each tier has its own name, color, benefits and price, from $5 to $499.99 a month as of October 2026. You can lock posts to specific tiers, and fans who switch tiers pay the new tier's full price right away.
This guide covers setup, pricing, content gating, what fans see when they switch, per-tier tools and 10 tier ideas. In the agencies I've worked with, tier questions usually came down to one thing: who can actually see which post.
What are Fansly subscription tiers?
A tier is a paid subscription level on your profile. Fansly lists subscription tiers as one of its three core ways to earn, alongside tips and locked content. It says tier benefits can include post access, discounts and "custom requests".
Tiers sit on top of a free layer. Following is always free, while subscribing is paid, usually monthly, and every subscriber also counts as a follower. Fansly's price limits page suggests creators "consider creating multiple tiers with varying prices".
Creators keep 80% of subscription revenue, according to Fansly's getting-started guide. Our Fansly fees breakdown has the full math.
How do you create a subscription tier on Fansly?
You build tiers in the Plans/Promos section of your Creator Dashboard. Fansly's Your Audience guide lays out the steps:
- Go to Creator Dashboard > Plans/Promos and click "Create Subscription Tier".
- Fill in the tier fields from the table below.
- Open the Plans/Pricing tab and set your base subscription price.
- Optionally add a multi-month plan. Fansly's example is to "activate the 3-Month Plan and apply a 20% discount".
- Click Create.
What each tier field does
| Field | What Fansly says | Setup note |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription Tier Name | "The name that will appear on your profile" | Name the access level so fans know what they're buying |
| Tier Color | Pick it with the pencil icon to color "the tier banner" | Distinct colors help fans tell tiers apart |
| Benefits | "List what fans get when they subscribe to this tier" | Only list what you can deliver every month |
| Included Tiers | "consider including lower-tier benefits in higher ones" | Benefits in Fansly's wording, not a documented content lock (see below) |
| Maximum Subscribers | "Want to limit access to a tier? Set a cap here" | Optional, and the basis for a limited-seats tier |
Fansly's guide doesn't list a separate description field, so your Benefits list does that job.
Reorder, edit or turn off following
Once you have several tiers, "you can reorder them on your profile using the arrows beside each tier." To change a price, open Plans/Promos > "Edit Subscription Tier", update the Base Subscription Price and click "Update". Fansly says "any plans or promotions you're running will be automatically updated as well!"
Fansly's price change page adds that the change "applies to your ongoing subscription tier". Neither page says whether current subscribers renew at the old or new price.
You can also switch free following off with the Follow button on your Plans/Promos page, per Fansly's Your Audience guide, though Fansly recommends keeping it on. Followers see your follower-only content and can be included in mass messages. When a subscription expires, that fan goes back to being a follower.
What's the Fansly subscription price range?
Each tier can cost between $5 and $499.99 a month, according to Fansly's subscription price limits as of October 2026. Fansly processes every transaction in US dollars.
Multi-month plans
Fansly's discount guide says "You can offer discounts for 2-, 3-, or 6-month subscriptions", at up to 50% off. Its Your Audience guide only mentions plans "for fans who commit to 3 or 6 months up front". Check your dashboard before you plan a 2-month option.
Fans pay multi-month plans upfront, and the plans show on your profile under "Additional Plans", per Fansly's special deals page. Most subscriptions run for a calendar month, and every subscription is set to auto-renew by default.
Promotions and discount links
Promotions and discount links work per tier too.
- Promotions are created from a tier's "Promotion" option. Fans pay the reduced price "for the first month", then the standard price, per the special deals page.
- Discount links, per the discount guide, ask you to "Choose the subscription tier it applies to and what plan it will renew at".
Our guide to making money on Fansly covers redemption limits, exclusions, dates and free trials.
How do you lock content to a specific tier?
You lock content with each post's media permissions. Fansly's permissions guide says you can make content available "to all subscribers, or limit it to specific tiers (e.g., VIP tier only)". Walls have no tier settings, according to Fansly's walls guide, so access is always set per post.
That "VIP tier" is just a tier name in Fansly's example. It isn't the separate VIP function, which routes a follower's messages to a dedicated inbox.
AND vs OR conditions
Permissions combine in two ways. With OR, a fan meets "any one of several conditions". With AND, they "must meet all selected requirements". Fansly's example offers a post to fans who follow and pay $20, OR who subscribe and pay $10.
Fansly's posting guide gives two more examples: "subscriber + $5" as a combined requirement, and "$30 for non-subscribers" as an option.
Add every tier that should see the post
This is where tier setups usually break. Fansly describes Included Tiers in terms of benefits, and doesn't say it unlocks lower-tier posts for higher tiers. Fansly's troubleshooting page gives the fix when a subscriber can't see something: "Ensure that their subscription tier is included in the permissions for the media."
So when you limit a post to one tier, tick every higher tier that promises the same access. Check your timeline permissions too. If a post requires following but your Follow button is off, new users can't meet that condition.
What happens when a fan switches tiers?
The switch is immediate, and the fan pays the new tier's full price. Fansly's tier change page says fans see a warning popup first. Their current subscription is replaced, the remaining time is forfeited, and it isn't refunded. Fansly suggests fans wait until their billing cycle ends.
In their subscription list, fans see the tier name, status, billing cycle length, total months subscribed, price with promo details, and the "End of Billing Cycle" date. To cancel, they use the cogwheel and "Don't Renew Subscription", then keep access until the period ends.
An upgrade wastes less of a fan's money near the end of their billing cycle, because there's less time left to forfeit. Spell out in each tier's Benefits what an upgrade adds, so the warning popup isn't the first thing they read.
Which Fansly tools work per tier?
Automated messages, mass messages and statistics all work at tier level.
Welcome and renewal messages by tier
Fansly's automated messages guide lists three subscription triggers: New subscriber, Gift link subscriber and Subscription renewal. For each one, you can "have one message for all subscription tiers, or customize the message for a specific tier."
Our guide to automating your welcome funnel walks through the setup.
Mass messages by tier and auto-renew status
Fansly's mass messages guide says you can "choose a specific tier or send to all current subscribers, regardless of their tier". You can also choose whether to include fans with auto-renew on or off.
Fans with auto-renew off still have access, but their subscription won't renew. That makes them the obvious group for a renewal reminder. Our churn prevention playbook covers the timing.
Subscribers by tier on the Statistics page
The Audience tab of Fansly's Statistics page, a beta feature, includes "Subscribers by tier". It shows "subscribers per tier at the end of the period, plus new subscriptions and the change from the period before". That change counts fans who moved out of or into a specific tier.
Renewal rate, Expired and Cancelled sit alongside it. Your Subscribers page shows each fan's tier, auto-renew status and when they subscribed, plus expired subscribers. Fansly's Your Audience guide notes it "can even be filtered by tier."
What can't target a single tier
Two settings have no tier option. DM permissions offer everyone, followers only or custom lists, such as subscribers or fans who've spent $50+ on PPV. Live chat can be limited to "Subscribers only", without a tier choice. Tier-only perks belong in posts, mass messages and automated messages.
10 Fansly subscription tier ideas
These are structures, not price recommendations. Each uses a documented Fansly feature, with no promised result. Change one thing at a time and watch Subscribers by tier.
1. A free follower layer under your paid tiers
Keep following switched on, as Fansly recommends. Share previews with followers, then reach them through mass messages. Expired subscribers drop back into this layer, so they stay in reach.
2. One tier with multi-month plans
Start with a single tier and add discounted multi-month plans. New fans get one simple choice, and committed fans get a reason to pay upfront.
3. A limited-seats tier
Set Maximum Subscribers on a top tier to cap how many fans can join it. Fansly's guide doesn't say what fans see once it's full, so check your profile when you reach the cap.
4. A benefits ladder
Use Included Tiers so each higher tier carries the benefits below it. Then add each qualifying tier to post permissions too.
5. Tier-only posts
Limit certain posts to one tier, like Fansly's "VIP tier only" example. Share a free preview with followers so they can see what the tier holds.
6. Member pricing on the same media
Use OR conditions so subscribers pay a small add-on and non-subscribers pay more, following the pattern in Fansly's posting guide.
7. Subscriber-only DMs or live chat
Open DMs or live chat to subscribers only, as a perk of subscribing at all. This works for all subscribers, not one tier, because neither setting has a tier option.
8. A different welcome for each tier
Write a separate New subscriber message for each tier, plus a matching renewal message. Base-tier fans hear what upgrading adds, and top-tier fans get a rundown of their extras.
9. A trial or discount link per tier
Create a discount link for one tier and choose the plan it renews at. Pair it with a tracking link, which reports Claims, Follows, Subscriptions and Revenue. Our guide to tracking free trial links shows the workflow.
10. Custom requests as a top-tier benefit
Fansly names "custom requests" as a possible tier benefit. List them in your top tier's Benefits, with clear terms on what's included and how long delivery takes.
What doesn't Fansly document about tiers?
Several common tier questions have no official answer. As of October 2026, Fansly's help centre doesn't say:
- How many tiers you can create. Some sites quote a fixed limit, but Fansly doesn't state one.
- What happens when you delete a tier, including what happens to its subscribers.
- Whether Included Tiers unlocks lower-tier posts. Add tiers to permissions instead.
- How a price change affects current subscribers at their next renewal.
- What fans see when a capped tier is full.
- Per-tier renewal settings beyond the per-tier renewal message.
If one of these matters to your plan, ask Fansly support before you change a busy tier.
What if you manage more than one creator?
Across a roster, checking tiers by hand gets slow. Our Fansly API, an independent tool, reads tier data from the creator accounts you connect:
- List Subscription Tiers returns each tier's
name, color, pos, price, maxSubscribers, subscriptionBenefits, includedTierIdsandplans. Each plan has anid, billingCycle, priceandpromos. - List Subscribers filters by
subscription_tier_id,status(active, expired or all) andsearch. Each item includessubscriptionTierName, planId,renewPrice, autoRenew, renewDateandendsAt, withtotalActiveandtotalExpiredcounts. - Create Subscription Discount needs a
plan_idfrom List Subscription Tiers, pluspriceanddurationin days. Optional fields includemax_uses,new_subscribers_only,starts_atandends_at. - Send Post, Update Post, Send Chat Message and Send Mass Message accept
subscriptionTierId. It restricts the subscription requirement to a single tier, while the dashboard lets you pick several. - Webhooks
fansly.subscriptions.new,fansly.subscriptions.renewedandfansly.subscriptions.expiredcover the lifecycle. New and renewed events carrysubscriptionTierId,subscriptionTierNameandplanId.
Since August 2026, fansly.subscriptions.new fires for first subscriptions only. The docs don't define the price unit, pos or a maxSubscribers of 0.
The API can't create, edit, delete or reorder tiers, change prices, or set up promotions, multi-month plans or automated messages. There's no tier-change webhook. Send Mass Message also can't pick recipients by tier: it uses a groupId configured on the Fansly dashboard, and subscriptionTierId only gates the media. The full list lives in the API documentation.
Your Fansly tier setup checklist
- Create your tiers with a clear name, a distinct color and an honest Benefits list.
- Set prices between $5 and $499.99 a month, and decide whether to add a multi-month plan.
- Lock posts to tiers, ticking every tier that should see each one.
- Write per-tier welcome and renewal messages.
- Check Subscribers by tier each month and change one thing at a time.
Get permissions right before anything else. A fan who pays for a tier and can't see its posts notices straight away.
