To get more followers on Fansly, keep following easy, opt your posts into the For You Page, and give fans reasons to engage. Then point every outside link at your profile through a tracking link, and check Fansly's Statistics page to see what's working. Following is free, so your job is removing friction, not selling.
When I worked with agency rosters, new creators asked about follower counts before almost anything else. This guide covers the levers Fansly actually documents, as of October 2026, and flags the ones it doesn't.
Haven't set up discovery yet? Our Fansly search guide covers Suggestions, the FYP and search in detail.
Followers vs subscribers: why followers matter
Followers are free, subscribers pay, and every subscriber is also a follower. Fansly's follow guide says following is always free, and fans can "Unfollow anytime with just a click."
Fansly's Your Audience page splits your audience into three groups: Followers (free), Subscribers (paying) and Users (browsing). A follower gets three things a browsing user doesn't:
- They "See any content for Followers".
- They "Spot your content right on their Fansly homepage".
- They "Receive email updates about your content".
The part most guides miss is what happens when a subscription ends. An expired subscriber will "simply move back into the Follower group, meaning you don't lose them entirely." So a lapsed subscriber stays in your audience as a follower, and you can win them back later.
Its advice: "If your goal is to grow your audience, keep fans informed, and establish a reliable income stream, we recommend enabling Following and/or Subscriptions."
Step 1: Check who can follow you
Your follow settings decide whether new fans can follow you at all, so check them before anything else. According to Fansly's follow settings page, you'll find two toggles in the Creator Dashboard under Plans/Promos:
- Follow Button Enabled turns following on or off.
- Require Payment Method to follow limits follows to fans with a payment method on file.
Fansly doesn't describe any trade-offs here, so this part is our reasoning. Requiring a payment method likely means fewer throwaway accounts, but it also asks genuine new fans to do more before following. If growth is your goal, keep the Follow button on. Add the payment requirement only if low-quality follows become a real problem.
The disable-Follow pitfall
If you turn the Follow button off, fix your timeline permissions straight away. Fansly's managing followers page says to remove the "Following" requirement from them. Otherwise "New users won't be able to view your timeline content."
The second warning is worse: "Subscribed users may be blocked from accessing posts if 'Following' is still required." A settings change meant to limit followers can cut off fans who already pay you. Re-check timeline permissions every time you touch follow settings. To see who follows you, click your avatar and choose "Followers".
Step 2: Get your posts in front of new fans
New followers come from people who haven't found you yet, so discovery comes first. Fansly lists four routes: the For You Page, Suggestions, search and hashtags. Our search guide covers each in depth, so here's the short version:
- Suggestions include every creator automatically.
- The FYP shows only posts you opt in with "Post to FYP" or
#fyp. Locked media needs a free preview. - Profile tags are private labels for the algorithm, while hashtags are public and go in your captions.
Opt in every post you want new fans to see. A post that isn't opted in can't reach the FYP, however good it is.
Connect Twitch and X
If you already have an audience on Twitch or X, Fansly offers a shortcut. "Head over to Connections in Settings to securely connect your Twitch and X accounts," says Fansly's discoverability guide.
Here's why it helps. "If someone who follows you on Twitch or X connects their account or signs in with one of those, your profile may be recommended to them." The feature is private, and Fansly says it will "never post on your connected platforms". It only covers Twitch and X, so other platforms need the link approach in Step 5.
Step 3: Give fans reasons to engage
Engagement features give visitors a reason to follow and followers a reason to stay. Fansly's post composer includes several worth using:
| Composer feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Post to FYP | Opts the post into the For You Page |
| Poll | Asks fans a question, such as "Pizza or tacos?" or "What should I post next?" |
| Lock Replies | "Control who can reply to your post", keeping threads to the fans you choose |
Fansly pitches polls as a way to keep fans "engaged and coming back for more!"
Use Stories between posts
Stories stay up for 24 hours. Fansly suggests you "Use Stories regularly to keep your audience engaged between posts", with behind-the-scenes moments, quick updates or teasers. You can see total views, and Stories follow the same media permissions as posts and DMs.
Reply to comments and messages
Fansly's branding guide puts it plainly: "Regularly interact with your followers. Respond to comments and messages." Personal replies are the part fans notice, so write those yourself.
For the routine moment, set up a New follower automated message that greets every new follower. Our guide to automating your welcome funnel walks through the setup.
Step 4: Collaborate with other creators
Collaborations put you in front of another creator's audience. Fansly's branding guide says "Collaboration helps expand your audience as fan bases cross over and discover new talent." How you share collab content decides what paperwork you need:
| Method | What it does | Consent form? |
|---|---|---|
| @-tag | Makes their name clickable and links to their profile | A tag or consent form, and everyone featured must be verified |
| Repost | Shares their original post with credit kept | "No Consent Form Needed" |
| Reupload | Posts their media again from your account | Signed consent forms required |
Tagging helps "make it easier for fans to discover new profiles". It doesn't share content, though: "Tagging someone only links to their profile: it doesn't repost their media."
Fansly's reposting guide warns that reupload violations may lead to account action. Its rule of thumb: "When in doubt, repost instead of reupload". Everyone featured in collaborative content must also be verified before you publish.
Step 5: Bring in followers from other platforms
Fans on other platforms only become followers if the path to your profile is clear. Keep it simple:
- Add bio links. Fansly lets you link to X, Instagram, Linktree "and more" in your bio. Use full URLs: TikTok, Instagram and Linktree links become clickable automatically.
- Fill in your social sections. Your profile has Instagram and TikTok sections. External links must follow Fansly's Terms of Service and the other platform's terms, or you risk suspension or termination.
- Create one tracking link per platform. Go to Creator Dashboard > Tracking Links > "Create Tracking Link".
Fansly's tracking link guide recommends "a unique link for each of your social media accounts". The Follows figure shows "how many people followed you after clicking your Tracking Link." Claims count fans who clicked, then logged in or registered.

Step 6: Measure follower growth in Statistics
The Statistics page (Beta) tells you which of these steps is paying off. These are the follower figures to watch:
| Where | Metric | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Overview | Follower growth | How your follower count is trending |
| Audience | New followers and unfollows | Gains and losses, side by side |
| Audience | Total followers | Your current follower count |
| Audience | Followers discovery brought you | "people who found you through For You, Suggestions, Search or one of your links, and then followed you." |
| Audience | Post engagement | "likes and comments on your posts." |
Follower counts update nightly, so judge a change the next day, not the same hour.
Read the numbers together. If discovery-brought followers climb after you opt more posts into the FYP, keep going. If unfollows jump after a change, look at what you changed. Your tracking link Follows then show which outside platforms pull their weight.
Do likes help you on the Fansly FYP?
Fansly doesn't say they do. The FYP page says posts are recommended to fans "based on their activity and interests". Fansly's recommendations guide says the algorithm "learns from user behavior". Neither names likes as a ranking factor.
No Fansly page we found says likes, comments, polls, Stories, posting frequency or follower count affect the FYP, Suggestions or search. Be wary of guides that describe a ranking formula. Fansly is also clear that "Fansly Support is unable to help boost engagement or provide individualized advice on how to boost your engagement."
So how do you get more likes on Fansly? Use the same levers: opt posts in, add strong free previews, run polls and reply to comments. Treat likes as feedback, not a ranking trick: check Post engagement in Statistics to see what fans respond to, and make more of it.
Should you buy Fansly followers?
Fansly's help centre doesn't address bought followers. Its Terms of Service are the binding rules, so read them before paying anyone. Fansly's advertising guide doesn't cover it either.
What follows is our reasoning, built on how Fansly works, not a Fansly ruling:
- A follow earns nothing by itself. Following is free, so a bought follower adds no revenue unless they later pay.
- Your data gets harder to read. Statistics tracks new followers, unfollows and the followers discovery brought you. Bought follows muddy those numbers, so it's harder to see which channels bring real fans.
- Inactive accounts may not get your messages. Mass messages aren't sent to users who've been inactive recently.
- There's no documented reach boost. Fansly doesn't say follower count affects recommendations, and Support can't boost engagement.
If you have a promo budget, spend it where a tracking link can show you the follows and revenue it brings.
How do you turn followers into subscribers?
Followers become subscribers when you give them a reason and a nudge. Fansly gives you four tools for that:
- Permissions per post. Show some content to followers, keep the rest for subscribers, or combine conditions such as "follow and pay $5". Fansly's permissions guide lists the options.
- Mass messages to followers. You can target followers as their own segment, with exclusions, and schedule sends in your time zone.
- Promotions and discount links. Promotions notify your followers, and Subscription Discount links can offer a special rate "or even free!".
- Free trials. Fansly allows free trials but not free lifetime subscriptions.
Keep your offer simple. Fansly's Your Audience page notes that "Many successful creators stick to a single subscription tier or none at all". Our Fansly subscription tiers guide helps you decide how many you need. For the full earning setup, see how to make money on Fansly.
What if you manage more than one creator?
Follower growth gets hard to track once you're checking several accounts by hand. Our Fansly API, an independent tool, works with the creator accounts you connect. These parts map to the steps above:
- List Followers returns users who "followed (but not necessarily subscribed to)" an account. It uses cursor pagination with
before(offset is deprecated), alimitof 1 to 100,searchandlast_seen_after. There's no follow-date field. - Webhooks cover
fansly.followers.new,fansly.followers.removed,fansly.posts.liked,fansly.media.liked,fansly.posts.commentedandfansly.subscriptions.new. - Get Tracking Link Stats returns "daily engagement metrics (clicks, claims, follows, subscriptions)". Get Tracking Link Revenue Stats adds revenue.
- Create List and Add Users to List build segments, and Send Mass Message reaches them.
Mind the webhook caveats in the docs. On fansly.followers.removed, createdAt is the original follow date, not the unfollow date. fansly.media.liked is high volume, so filter before you alert anyone. On fansly.posts.commented, check comment.available before using the comment.
Know the limits, too. The API docs don't cover the payment-method toggle, Connections, polls, Stories or the Statistics discovery figures. Get Insights has no follower, like or traffic-source data. The full list lives in the API documentation.
Fansly's AI policy bans AI interacting with fans without human oversight. Let tools handle the counting and alerts, and keep a person writing or approving every message fans read.
Your follower growth checklist
Run through this once, then come back whenever growth stalls:
- Check Plans/Promos. Keep the Follow button on, and fix timeline permissions if you ever turn it off.
- Turn on Post to FYP for posts you want new fans to see, with a free preview on locked media.
- Connect Twitch or X under Connections if you're active there.
- Post polls and Stories, and reply to comments and messages yourself.
- Collaborate with tags or reposts, and get consent forms before any reupload.
- Give each platform its own tracking link and compare their Follows.
- Check Statistics the next day for discovery-brought followers and unfollows.
Followers are free to gain and free to lose. Make following easy, give people a reason to stay, and measure what actually brings them in.
